Frequently asked questions
The things collectors ask Rice&Cracker Grading most often. If your question is not here, send it over.
Submissions
What card types and games do you accept for grading?
RAC currently focuses on the Pokémon Trading Card Game. If you are unsure whether a particular card or set is eligible, send us a message through the contact form and we will confirm before you post anything.
How do I package my card for submission?
Sleeve the card, place it in a rigid toploader, tape the opening of the toploader shut without ever taping the card itself, and pack everything in a padded mailer or small box. Our How It Works page walks through each step in detail.
Do you offer bulk submission discounts?
Bulk pricing is handled case by case at the moment. If you are looking to submit a larger quantity, get in touch through the contact form with a rough idea of volume and the service tier you have in mind.
Grading
What do the four grading criteria mean?
Centering measures how evenly the print sits within the borders. Corners covers the sharpness of all four corners. Edges covers chipping, nicks and roughness along the sides. Surface covers scratches, print defects, indentations and gloss. Our Grading Scale page sets out the thresholds we apply for each.
How long does grading take?
It depends on the service tier you choose, ranging from 5 business days on Premium up to 45 business days on Economy. Those times are estimates measured from when your submission is received and logged, not guaranteed delivery dates.
What happens if my card is found to be altered or counterfeit?
Authentication happens before grading. If a card is found to be counterfeit, trimmed, recoloured, resurfaced or otherwise altered, it will not receive a standard numeric grade. Our Terms of Service set out how those submissions are handled.
Shipping & Safety
Is my card insured while it is with you?
Cards in our possession are handled with reasonable care under industry-standard procedures. Specific insurance cover and declared-value limits are set out in our Terms of Service. We strongly recommend insuring higher-value cards for the journey to us, as postage to RAC is arranged by you.
How is my card protected when it is shipped back to me?
Graded cards are returned in their sealed slab, packed with padding to prevent movement, and sent using a tracked service. Return postage and any applicable insurance are quoted based on the declared value of your submission.
After Grading
Can I track my submission while it is being graded?
Online submission tracking is not available yet. While submissions are paused this is not an issue, and we will confirm what tracking looks like when submissions reopen.
What if I am not satisfied with the grade my card receives?
Grading reflects our graders’ professional opinion at a point in time, and grades are final other than where a published review policy applies. If something about your grade looks wrong to you, contact us and we will look into it properly.
Still stuck?
